2002 Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château, Vicomte Liger-Belair : The aromatics were ever so enticing.....sous-bois, mushroom, prune and plum, earth and distinct spicy notes...wafting up to your nose from the glass. Pure silk softly caressing your palate, lingering finish, still retaining a good level of acidity keeping the freshness. Even without the complexity, structure and concentration worthy of a higher grade, this was hitting all the right notes for a fantastic village Vosne at its apogee. Hugely enjoyable now! (Our first bottle from the wooden case, with each bottle individually wrapped with paper and straw.....such a nice touch!) 16.5/20
